Looks like it's finally gonna happen.

Automotive News has learned independently that Jeep will make a Wrangler-based pickup in Toledo

Interested to see what it actually looks like and when it might debut. This could make my decision on what to get in a few years a little more difficult.

Honestly, I'm really hoping jeep puts the motor from the new 1500 diesels into the new jeep truck. And make a plum crazy purple color!! That would be perfect!!! (Especially if it's anything like the aev double brutes, aev does a fantastic job of making them look sleek as hell, just so damn expensive

:cheesy: Imagine that, yet another unsubstantiated e-zine article talking about how they've heard from independent sources that the fabled Jeep Truck is finally coming our way. Yeah - I'll believe it when I see it.

Yup, these sites are all over the map with the 2018 Wrangler. A shit-ton of dealers ACTUALLY SAW IT, yet no one can get good descriptions from them? Seriously, WTF is up with that? One source says regarding the 2018 windshield design (based dealer sources from the FCA show), "...slight rake compared to the current... Update to the folding windshield mechanism" and this site has a sister post-FCA article saying "...with a fixed, raked windscreen to improve aerodynamics." Ugh. Leak some photos already!

I hope Jeep does make a 4-dr pickup, but like you say, I'll believe it when I see it (in my garage, lol).

Funny, I didn't read it either. It's all over the web. I thought, I'm not doing this to myself again. I'll believe it when it rolls off the line.

I might need to just buy a JK8 also. :thumb:

The JK8 is a kit to turn a JK into a pickup, like the AEV Brute. The article is about FCA building a factory OEM Jeep truck at the Toledo, OH factory. They've been saying this for years, and it'll probably never happen.

If it's for real, I'm guessing there will be three different wheelbase models for Wrangler JL: short (2dr), medium (4dr), long (truck: 2dr with long bed or/and 4dr with short bed). Man, make me wonder if I should slow down to build my mod for JK until they release new one in 2017?

A 4 door JL truck with a short bed would be just enough to make me buy one. Especially if it has a diesel 🇺🇸

Only thing wrong with a wrangler based truck is the lack of towing capacity. And torque. There needs to be another engine option

Well, IF there is a diesel, then there you go. And these wouldn't compete with full-size trucks anyway. I'm picturing a 4-Door with a roll cage over the pickup bed and a military-style canvas cover/tarp with a roll-up back opening. And having a pickup bed would open up a huge aftermarket opportunity for add-ins and full-on replacements (light RV camper style bed).

It's going to be over priced. Look how much the JK costs now.

Not to mention the renegade..

Oh yeah, IF this were to really happen (and I'm still not convinced of anything that "Automotive News has learned independently"), it'll be way overpriced. That is not to say that people wouldn't pay for it though.

Yeah, I'd pay the premium as well !!

It will be interesting to see how much more the JL base model Sport will be over the JK. Then add to that a premium for the phantom truck bed, and then another premium for a phantom diesel... I can see a Hard Rock 4-door pickup with diesel topping out around $55-60K.

I think we're witnessing the beginning of a Jeep truck addiction. What are you up to, like 3 now? 👍

A JK8 actually put me into my JKU. Drove by the Dealership and they had this Red Hott 2013 JK8 conversion setting out front, we had been discussing a new truck and I flipped a uturn to look at it only to be stunned at the 52k price tag. Used. I think they would sell like hot cakes at a Church breakfast.

From reading this I am kind of feeling let down. I would have hoped they would take the AEV brute JK and went that way. I guess I am going to be talking with AEV and see what they can do for me cause I want a jeep wrangler truck

Something similar to the Brute would be great, but not at that same price point. If they made it comparable to other truck prices, I think they will sell well. Hell, I might pick one up. At 90 grand like those brutes, forget it.

I have the 2014 Dodge 1500 Ecodiesel, I love it!!! I hope the new regime at Fiat/Chrysler pull the trigger, And start putting that same motor in the wrangler….!!!! They will not be able to keep them on the lot!!!!!
