HELP PLEASE. Picked up a used set of these. How "freely" should the joint/eye move? Should I be able to work the grease in with my hand? I can barely get them to move with a rod through the eye. The past owner must have never greased them once.
Is this stiffness normal? If not what is my best remedy? Just continue to grease them until they move properly?

They should be that tight. Sounds like the previous owner greased them properly.

what others said. remember the Jeep movement/articulation puts a lot more force on those than you can by hand, if they were loose your jeep would be making all kinds of noise and handle badly. if they were so loose you could easily move them by hand then the joints would need to be replaced.
