Ok, I know I'm 50 and all, but I still like playing in the mud and I like some toys. I made the mistake of stopping in a hobby store last Fall and ended up walking out with this:

This thing is fast as stink! Made a track in the old riding arena the kids don't ride their horses in anymore. Also gave my wife one more reason to think I'm a little retarded but what the hell...

Actually just this past week I ordered my first RC truck. Traxxas E Revo Brushless 1/10. Also picked up a couple Lipo batteries.
We have a RC hobby shop very close to the house and anytime I see them outside playing I get envious. Thus bit the bullet, put the Jeep toys on hold and bought the truck. Should be here this week.

I'm 56, and I have a garage full of scratch built 4x4's, ARR kits, airplanes, boats, Semi tractors and trailers, a tractor, and I like to restore old ones from the early days.

These are just a few. I also just picked up an HPI Baja 5b SS

It started life as a Tmaxx. Now it has Tmaxx, Revo, and Losi XL parts with an XO-1 motor. It's a beast for sure.

How much work are the nitro cars/trucks? I went electric so I wouldn't have to mess with rebuilding the motors.

My brothers TRX 3.3 engine is a dream, however my pro. 15 has been a pain in the ass. Rebuilding is very simple and quite fun. The gas require most maintenance, but it's fun to tinker with them hence why they are sold in a hobby shop. If there's one think you need to know about a nitro engine it's that you can ever have enough glow plugs haha

EDIT: my new pro. 15 I bought has worked as expected but the TRX 3.3 blows it out of the water performance wise

I had the Tmaxx .15 then the 2.5 then the 3.3. Nitro is absolutely a blast!!! The sound and smell are addicting. But, the wrenching time on nitro trucks is about 60/40. 60% of the time you wrench, 40% you play. Some days less, some days more wrenching time. About two years ago I went all electric and haven't looked back. The power of the brushless motors now is unbelievable. And the lipo batteries last FOREVER is seams. I have an XO-1 motor I scored off of fleaBay for $160. That's a 7 horse power motor. You can't even get close to that with the biggest of the big 4stroke model engines without spending a butt-load of cheese. The thing I like most about electric is I know the truck will go when I put batteries in and squeeze the trigger. And I know it's putting out the most power it has, regardless of temperature, humidity, or even a cloud going by.

True! Nitros are super temperamental and very time consuming. I would personally to an electric next if I have the cash.

Nice score on the xo-1 motor that things a beast
