Starter Removal

Those of you that have replaced a starter on a JK. How the hell did you get the top bolt off? I've blasted it repeatedly with WD-40's loosener and it still won't budge. There's not much room so I'm wondering if there are any tricks to this.

Thanks!

Stubby ratchet works fine, if you can't get enough horsepower behind it still then an air ratchet is your best bet. Personally I used an air ratchet on mine, the bolts are torqued to 40 ft pounds and felt lIke it was welded on there when I attempted to remove it with a stubby.

Once again, thank WAL family for great info and write ups. had to swap my starter this morning when I was headed out for coffee. That top bolt is something. used a box end over it slightly angled wrench. took a 24 inch 2x2 down through the open hood and a deadblow and was able to knock it loose.
Swapped out my sloppy draglink since i was near deathwobble again. just getting my coffee now after 7 hrs or wrenching and multiple trips to the parts store. Ah, Saturdays...
