What could be the source of this sound?

Driving home the other day I noticed a loud whining sound and clicking coming from my 2012 JKU and believe it to be the transmission. Gets louder when I put into drive, then it starts clicking in park. Almost like it's trying to align the gears. Video attached.

Sorry for all the camera movement.

First thing, and I suppose you already might have, I would do is check if there's enough fluid. I don't have an auto so I'm not sure if you have dipstick or not. Hopefully some people here might be able to help you better than I can. Failing that, I would take to a specialist asap!

Sorry for all the camera movement.

Maybe the water pump? There are a couple of YouTube videos that sound like what you're experiencing.

Sound to me like trans noise. It you have an inspection cover on bell-housing, check to see if there are any cracks in the flex plate, I've seen that before. Also check to make sure none of your shift linkage is bent at all. But sounding to me like a front pump noise or planetary noise.

2012, are you out of warranty?

things I'd check, steering pump - check the fluid, stuck starter, transmission

I second that, sounds like planetary more than front pump to me though

Appreciate all the comments on this. I am going to have it to the dealership and hope it is covered under the drive train warranty.
