Anyone know much about these Willy's? It has a column shift which I was told to be very rare. It also has a rear PTO.

I don't know much about them except that the column shift is very rare. I think only fitted to 4-500 before they went back to floor shift. There was a story on one of the very early cj2a (I think it was the 12th one built) in JP a couple of months back might be on their website but I think they said only about 300 built in 1945.

But again I don't really know it's just what I remember from the story

The PTO makes me think it is a farm Jeep. After the war they marketed some as tractors.

They were marketed as equipment on up into the 60's my 60 cj5 has an implement bar on the back designed to connect plows, augers, spreaders, etc.

Cj5 backhoe anyone?

The info I gather is that about the first 38,000 cj2a's were column shift until willy's ran out of mb parts. Up to serial #38221 to be exact.
