HELP! ID this transmission part by cooler lines.

I was totally going to write up how to replace your transmission cooler lines & I've had a million issues. I have the lines off the quick disconnects, but there's a wire or something around the upper line on the housing & I can't remove the old ones. What is this and how do I get it out of the way?

In the upper right of this terrible photo you can see where the line was connected and the 1/2" or so diameter hose/wire in my way.

Even if I cut the old hose I need to get the new one in so I need some helpful Ideas & experience please.

Hard to see, but would dropping the driveshaft help make the job easier? :idontknow:

No, the driveshaft is fine. It's just this wire thing.

I helped my buddy change his a couple weeks ago. It was a pain but got it out of there. That "wire thing" is the shift cable. It will flex some to help you get the line out

Little elbow grease and she went right by. I was worried about breaking something.

Is this how these e-clip fittings should look? I can't get the protector around them?
