Semi/Train Horns in a JKU

So I recently noticed that my horn in my 08 jk unlimited randomly stopped working. I have not recently gone wheeling so I do not think mud, water, or anything like that got into it.

Either way I hated the stock jeep horn and have always wanted to replace it so this is the perfect time to do so. I want something loud thats going to get whoever's attention i'm seeking captured. I love the sound of semi rig horns and I am in the market of getting one.

Does anyone have experience with certain models? How did you install it to work just like a stock horn would? I am looking for recommendations and any user experiences. Not looking to spend a fortune but I want a good product.

Thanks guys!

I love watching those train horn prank videos on youtube. I've thought about getting one on my old truck. Don't think I want to take up that kind of room in my Jeep. They require a compressor, air tank, etc if you want the real sound. Here's a quick google pic of the kit. Like a kid on Christmas just waiting for your next victim to walk by, lol. Youtube has a lot of good footage of people's reactions.

Haha those are great. I don't think I am looking for a full on train horn (don't want to scare the living hell out of someone), just want their attention. I think I am looking for something more so on the Semi-rig truck horn.

We used to have a 120db one we would use to mess with the neighbors (long story there). It was pretty loud. 12 volt system too. We had it mounted on the outside of our house and ran two wires into the inside of the house where we had it hooked up to a 12v jump box. It did the job. Something like that would be really easy to set up on a Jeep.

I always ordered my setups from alteredaltitude.com when I was in the air ride game and ran a horn. Then again I was already running a tank and compressor setup so it was just another thing to add. To make it work, you just tie in the horn solenoid wiring into your factory horn wiring and you are good to go. They are very loud and I always used a mini regulator to bring the pressure down to around 60-70 psi to make it not as obnoxious. My friends could hear it about a mile away when it was turned up a little louder.

Yeah I would definitely like to run something more on the legal side which is why I would go with the truck setup vs an actual train horn package. Also not trying to scare any grandmas to their grave.
