Cycling the Front Suspension

Caught the Bug
If there is a previous thread for this I apologize, couldn't find it.
What is the best way to cycle the front suspension to check the bump stops, shock length, spring compression, drag link and track bar articulation, tire clearance, etc.? Any precautions or safety issues?
Thanks,
coop

Put vehicle on jack stands; pull springs; jack axle up. Leave axle horizontal if your shocks are in factory locations. They'll compress more in this manner than when flexed out from side to side. Check for clearances......
