Spare tire protector

I have been seeing that spare tire skid thing that mounts in the hitch, and angles up right under the spare. I was wondering what its called and where everyone is getting it?

How did you get that square tubing to bend like that. Just heat?

I would think that you would want 1\8 inch minimum.

^^^ agree that 14 gage (.075") is on the thin side. You won't have to worry about the bend because it will do it on its own the first time it's engaged. Like WJCO said "1/8" min." or 3/16" if you can find it.

had a weld shop make it. they heated it and bent it like that - it's a smooth bend, not sure how they got the smooth bend in it

It's same square tubing that's used for hitches

Thats what what i got around to making. 2by2 3/16 i think it will do good.

I just use a hitch flipped upside down for now.
