At work today was a pleasant surprise, ramping up for our open house to the public at Jefferson National Laboratory. The Oakridge National Laboratory had these 3d printed vehicles, one of which was a jeep. Just the body and accessories were 3d printed, frame mechanical were all oem. Figured I should share the photos with everyone. I apologize for the bad quality of the photos all i had was my phone. I do not post much so forgive me if this is in the wrong section.

Awesome stuff. Am I being a jerk though if I wonder how much we paid to have these printed?

No idea on price, going to see if I can find someone that worked on project to get more information.

That'd probably be scary as hell to find out but still cool to know. It'd also be neat to see the actual printer that made this - it's gotta be gigantic, no?

If it wasnt for the lines on some parts, I would have never guessed that wasnt metal at first. Thank you for sharing tho, that is awesome. Did you get any pics of the other printed vehicles?

This will revolutionize manufacturing once it's a cost effective alternative. Very cool, thanks for posting the pictures.

I have read that the technology is moving toward metal media. Metal powder mixed with a binder and then sintered; even better laser weld on weld. I bet before most of us take that dirt nap that this will be the norm for producing many items made of plastic, metal and who knows what else?
