Custom overhead storage

I'd like to build something similar to the bar that goes between driver and passenger on the Rock Hard sports cage, from which I could attach/store things (radios, first aid kit, flashlight, etc).

Here is a pic of the metal piece I'm thinking of making. It'd be the wide silver one going front to back. Nothing going side to side.

Not looking for it to be structural. Just to add some overhead storage. Anyone done anything like this before?

I thought Rock Hard had some accessories for their cages. Smittybilt has an overhead storage and there are some companies that us molle attachments.

Yep, that's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I just want to build the metal part myself so I don't have to pay $500 for the sport cage.

I built my own out of aluminium rectangular tubing haven't attached any molle packs yet but....
