I have had 10 jeeps. This will be 11. If you want a truck, buy a truck. If you want a jeep with extra or external storage buy this. No way this will "flop". Jeep lovers have wanted this for 15+ years and will flock to the dealerships. The biggest negative to this truck coming out is dealers will inflate prices the first year or two. I HOPE you all want a "TRUCK" and don't want these so I can get mine without paying $5k to $10k above msrp!

Well the Wrangler as we all know is overpriced as it is, we still pay it. So you can only imagine what the Wrangler truck will cost. Probably a lot more than a semi or fully loaded more capable full size pickup. I still think it will not outsell all the competitors in the pickup class. Sure you hear some people say they want to see a pickup version, let's see how many will actually pull the trigger and buy it over a well established more capable, more option, better ride, better everything pickup truck. I bet there will be only a few, not as many as some think. Will see what the final product looks like. If it looks anywhere near the prototype, it will be a flop. What ever, some people buy Kia sportage thinking they are buying a great sport utility vehicle so each their own. I like the Wrangler, but I can't see any good reason to buy the pickup version of it. When I buy vehicles, I rather choose to buy the best of their class. I guess if you don't plan to tow anything heavy and don't care about gas mileage or seating room or comfort and just buying it for the looks and have more money to blow away then go ahead. I can't wait to see the results. Jeep has made pickup trucks for quite sometime but when was the last time we've seen one on the road or how often? Just saying.

"Just saying" but when was the last time you seen a pick up do half the shit a wrangler can? You have to think about what the manufacturer is going for when they market a product. Will it be as good as a full size pick up? Absolutely not. But do you really think a company like Jeep is honestly trying to compete in the market of full size pick ups? If you say yes you're just retarded. This jeep "pick up" has been and will be designed specifically for nut jobs like us that want to put our rigs to the test out in the wilderness and guess what? With the pick up bed, we get to haul some extra shit! Towing capacity? Seriously? A JKU towing capacity is less than 5,000 lbs. and you really wanna compare this new jeep truck to a full size dodge or Chevy? Vehicles are built for specific purposes just like you stated, so stop comparing the two because they are nothing alike. It's a JKU with a bed on it. Obviously it's not going to be a Chevy or dodge 3500HD. That's just dumb to even say. But what it is going to be is an awesome adventure rig that guys like us can now pack a multitude more of gear and supplies thus taking longer trips and having more cargo space than ever before. That's the design plain and simple. Don't know why that's so hard for some people to understand or comprehend. It's not like it's fuckin rocket science. I guarantee you the guys at FCA had a conversation just like this.
"Hey guys people keep saying we need more cargo space in our wranglers, how do we accomplish that?"
"Build a 4 door model" -checked that box off
"People still want more cargo space, what do we do?"
"Take the 4 door and put a truck bed on it."
Boom minds exploded.

Hang on there peeps why all the bitching and anger? This is just a mock-up of what may be coming in the future. I'm pretty sure that Jeep will in time have the aesthetics sorted on the vehicle when they are ready to start extensive testing. Do you really need 500bhp to tow anything? If so I've been doing it wrong for the last 40 years towing with my old Land Rover's. 2.5 ltr petrol and Diesels.
Lets sit back chill out throw another log on the fire and pour another beer I'll have a pint of Old Peculiar.
I'd rather have the Kaiser any day.
Have a gud un.

Figures you missed my point. And yes I've seen pickup trucks do as much if not more than a Wrangler. It's all how you set up the rigs. A stock Wrangler a Rubicon or not, doing hard trails will shred up to recycled goods. The underneath of a Wrangler uses very thin parts every where. The thin parts are not trail worthy. Every part will smash up easily. Death wobble isn't common for some unknown reason. In stock form it's only a light trail vehicle or a mall crawler per say. Why is it that the majority of the people who own the Wrangler that at least do some hard wheeling put as much or more than the cost of the vehicle? I had to do a ton of work on my JKU to make it even halfway worthy to handle rough trails. Come my way and be prepared to be put back in your place. You just haven't seen it or don't want to admit the reality of things. The one thing you got right is being a nut job. I'm just telling my view of things, don't need some nut case trying to twist my point. This topic is for the individual thoughts of this product, not for someone to bash another persons opinion.

^^ Well aren't you a live one. So much of what you said is, well, laughable but since you are clearly a badass and a "modman", I won't waste much of my breath on you. I will say this though, the vast majority of the time death wobble is caused by someone who (1) doesn't properly modify their Jeep, or (2) doesn't know how to properly maintain their Jeep. In any event, it's not that common

WTF?! Is this guy from the Diesel Bros fanboy club? Who is going to buy a Wrangler pickup and try to haul a 10 horse trailer with it? Be realistic.
It'll be a light hauler like we all expect it to be.

Wranglers are not trailworthy? OK. Whatever you say boss.:rolleyes2:

Wrangler pickup a flop? That's strike three...

Wow, newb joins Jeep Forum, proceeds to bash new unreleased Jeep product based on assumptions, compares these assumptions to non class products all while displaying a some sort of superior attitude.
Where's the rub?
All I know is I had better get moving on beefing up the underside of my stock JKU, because I'm liable to bend or break something the next time I bump a parking block at the mall.
Oh yeah, welcome to WAL!

Well heck, we need your help. Please help us and explain how you set up your rig? And please show us a full sized truck on the Rubicon. My albeit short trip a couple weeks ago did not witness any kind of full sized truck.

You obviously have no idea what you are doing to your jeep if you had to "do a ton of work to make it halfway worthy of a rough trail" but yet Eddie has videos of him taking people in stock jeeps through the rubicon? you entirely missed the point when you compared the wrangler to a dodge or Chevy. Yeah I figured and expected a few negative responses and it's easy to say it behind the screen. Ask anyone who's taken their stock Rubicon on the Rubicon and take a nice look under and around. I've done it, it's impossible to come out with nothing bent unless you're taking bypasses. I don't care how good you think you are at 4 wheelin, even veteran pros wreck their rigs. Yeah I may be new on this forum but you don't know me to call me what you don't know. I am in the automotive industry, I work on many types of vehicles so I see the good and the bad. Go to an FJ forum and see how you get treated there. Forums are all like that, ants protecting their group. I'm not like that. Sorry to hurt those who replied negatively but be more mature about it because I know you would never talk to me if you ever met me in person, you and I know that. Deny it, then you are genuinely full of shit. You know who you are. Yeah I said things that will make some protective individuals squeal, it is a forum, I don't spend hardly much time on forums, however I do get stuff in my inbox from this site and it did ask for an opinion so I gave it. Don't like it, then too bad I guess. I also share what many people don't know when they have issues with their rig and vice versa. Maybe you don't need anything from me and it's absolutely fine. Let's just end it right here and move on. I'm here because I have a Wrangler JKU, obviously a Wrangler fan. I learned a lot from this vehicle doing the work myself. I'm called "Modman" for a reason, if fact many of you guys have some of my products on your vehicle if it's led related. I'll let you guys continue on. I'm going to head out on the trails for some more testing. I'm sure I'll meet some of you if you are ever in my area. Take care and act like you would do face to face.

WTF?! Is this guy from the Diesel Bros fanboy club?

God I hate that show. Bunch of idiots.

So far, I hate what the Jeep truck might look like. I do however like the idea of a JK truck and wouldn't mind something like a TJ Brute but in JK form, still two door though not four door.

I really doubt that Jeep/Fiat (or whomever) designed the jeep truck to start competing with the full size truck market. I fully believe it was so that people could simply carry more stuff like camping gear etc. I love that idea. I'll have to go check one out when it comes out at the dealerships. They may grow on me.

Yes actually it is. Don't like it too bad then I guess right? Your words not mine. It's funny how you like to try throw out little snippets about not bashing or if you don't like the opinion then too bad but yet when someone says something to you about "your opinion" you get all butt hurt and get your panties in a twist. Oh the irony.

Actually I asked because I wanted to know about the fit and finish of the Smitty kit. I found a lot of these having gaps especially at the rear fender and needing the back pad to kind of fill the gap. I ordered one and had to return it because it had many weld spots burnt through showing on top.

I'm called modman cause I sell led lights

What a douche bag. That's some next level bullshit

Yes I sell led light, make led products, and also I do some modification to cars. It's what I do for business. I am working on producing some Jeep parts and if they come through I will let it publicly known when they come out. Seeking patents on the ideas so we'll see. As of yet there isn't anything out like what I have in mind.

No vendor as of yet. I want to have the product approved and out before I go any further. Not selling anything here. Of course if I had a cool Jeep product ready in hand to sell, I'd ask Eddie to become a vendor. Will take time for the patent search and approval, then comes the prototype. Come on really? If it's an idea worth patenting, why would I tell the world what I'm building? IF the patent goes through, I promise I will let you guys know what it is. I have to protect the idea first. It takes time to do patents. It's time consuming and expensive but worth it if the idea is not out on the market. Let's hope for the best. If all goes well, I'll then get back and show what the product will be. You gotta be patient, I'm not patient but I know well this process takes several months. If you remember the Spider lite, the product that won a SEMA award, that was my invention I sent to the manufacturer as well as many automotive leds I prototyped back late 90's. When I get involved with a hobby or what ever I see that can be improved on, I get a ton of ideas in my head. This is the kind of stuff I enjoy doing. This world needs better built parts.

Your'e absolutly right, but really majority of the Jeep owners are not loosening their bolts to see how oblong the bracket holes are. Just tightening it isn't the cure. Sure it's not a common thing if you're not wheeling hard. I had to learn this the hard way. Even after tightening, the holes were becoming oblong. I had cut off and upgraded and welded 1/4" and some areas 3/8" brackets to beef it up. It sure did a huge difference. My jeep is a whole lot more quiet, no clunks, squeeks whatsoever and that's after some good wheelin. I'm very new to owning a Wrangler but however I learn very fast about these vehicles from trial and error. I am focusing hard on making better parts for these vehicles only because it's a hot vehicle on the market that gets wheeled hard and people want better built parts. When ever I see issues, I want to correct and build a much better part. Don't we all? What I can say is be patient, I'm not patient myself as I want the parts for my own Jeep but I'm certain, the parts would be a worthwhile investment. I'm not talking trinkets accessories but ones that people would be saying "why didn't anyone come out with that?" better, stronger, built with ingenuity. Yeah it's all talk for now but trust me, it's in my heart to have them out on the market. I have helped Smittybilt on their front roll bar cage for a revision, even talked to Currie about the improvement on their Anti Rock rear sway bar. They knew what I was talking about as far as the issue goes. This is just a drop in the bucket of ideas in my head but bottom line, that's why I call myself Modman. Yeah people can joke about it for now but I'm just going to enjoy it more in the end!

Fair enough, but if I shut the fuck up, you'll be the last one to know about anything and perhaps you can do something that can benefit me? Do you know good suppliers for raw materials, know about patent search?, how much money needed for coming out with any single product? If you have that experience, share with me. I've done it but still need help. I have a small team helping me so it's looking hopeful. That's about as much as I can say for the meantime. I can see someone talking about some badass sliders and perhaps may have a good idea but without funds, it isn't going to happen. I've been there a few times and it sucks always the wrong moment. I have put aside some funds prepared to pay patent fees. Trust me it hurts when you pay for search and it goes dead. I have been there before. Many people have ideas but without funds, you got nothing. This is the majority of peoples issue, not having funds. I do agree it's easy to talk about it but I have actually built some products that are in our market. Small or large, I have put some products on the market. Mostly LED products but that isn't my focus now. Car parts is on my big list. For example, non car related, I produced the Tag kart Starter with the unique double bearing design to not have premature bearing wear. IAME 125 TAG. If yoiu go to Tag USA.com, you can see my starter "Eclipse" brand is the only one approved for circuit use. No big invention but just saying I come up with many ideas for improvements whenever I can find it. Yes you can believe what you wish. I really want to put the ideas I have on the market so badly but will take time and a lot of money. Some I may have to sell to manufacturers like I did in the past and some I can afford to put out.

I 100% totally agree it's all talk til it happens. I kick myself in the ass when I'm late to come out with the idea and I see it on the market years later. I told myself I have to make the products happen soon. The issue I have and I will admit, I work 6 days a week and work long hours so when I get home, I eat then crash. Repeat and start all over again. I hate it, I truly feel like I'm loosing energy. Just recently I hired two people to help me on this project due to my lack of time. I honestly really want this product to go through, I truly feel at least one of the product will be revolutionary, I bet everything on it. I wish I could say it but it will kill me. I don't want to continue all this talk. I need to get on it and the sooner I check, if the patents are available for me, it's on. Honestly you guys feed fire to me and it pushes me harder to get the project going.

I always need help, I'm not God, we're all humans that need help because there are times in our life, we make mistakes. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life but on occasions came up from the ground. I'm no badass, in fact I'm nobody to many of those who don't know me. Not trying to be anyone, don't want to be any type of big shot, I just love what I do for a living. This world have products that are built like garbage, don't you agree? things need to be built better. How many times we see products built and we say "what a piece of crap" I do. Well it was a slow day but properous. This is definitely the most keyboard time I've had in a long time. Honestly, at first, only because I'm not much of a forums person, I was kinda not feeling in place getting bashed on but I get it. If I can make good out of it, I will surely try. Well see how all this goes. Personally I've never spent this much time on conversations online but I feel this actually can benefit me. I wasn't going to come back and write but I'm not one to give up. I truly feel those of you who came to me with attacking words are actually better people in person. I've never met a person face to face ever having confronting words. For me I'm not one to write well and it typically sounds like shit to some people. I do better by mouth and it's strange when you think about it. Yeah I did this to myself but I'm trying to place the right words to make better sense. When I gave my opinion about the truck, I can see where it didn't sound right, I think some understand where I'm coming from and some not. Yes I didn't put the right words for everyone to relate easily. I'll try to think of the right words before I write. However I'm not much a detailed thinker writer person. I like to express verbally in person better if that makes any sense.

Well I'm working on it, that's what matters. I'm not a talker like some people here, and honestly don't care for anyone who don't care or don't believe what my intentions are. What matters to me is what happens in real life for me and I can say I've done OK. I understand your feelings about many people talking and not showing, I get it, I hate all the talk, I dealt with people like that so I understand. I run a business and I deal with a shit full of BSers so I'm not one to play that game. This is why I have encouraged those who are local to stop by and take a look at the history of my business. This will answer those who disbelieve all I have mentioned. There will be those who don't want to see the truth as I have met people like that but it's alright because it's the less than 1% that will always be haters. This is our society. What feeds me here is those who are negatively responding, it sure helps getting things going faster. If the product does come out, I want to display the product at SEMA, I will surely meet many of you there at that time. It is a great no excuse place to meet a lot of you there, you can show me who you really are and let me know you're a member here, well assuming you're still around. It is my intention to follow through with the new products. I'm glad you are certain I'm full of shit, because if I don't follow through, I will be full of it. Well I'm not going to let that happen? I dont' want to taint myself. It's past my work time, gotta get back on my project. Just remember what you said, I'll thank you later....

Actually you're pretty close on what I'm working with but not with a ton of light bars. I saw that pic before, crazy how one could put so many.

If that's close to what you're working with then :cheesy:

And just to drop you a little hint, its called 'photoshopping'....

Better hurry along before Nurse Ratchett sees your not in bed...

No it's someone thinking it's funny to do this, I have a feeling who it is but I don't care.

The only one that seems to be doing anything is you and to yourself. Admittedly I haven't read the entirety of your posts. Novel sized ramblings aren't my thing. I have better things to do with my time.

Geez for someone who is so busy working all the time you certainly have plenty of time to big note yourself but not much substance to talk about.

So tell us what were you doing before you started providing unsolicited advice to currie and smittybilt? Any qualifications? Electrical engineer? Rocket scientist? Or maybe professional bullshit artist.

Actually I asked because I wanted to know about the fit and finish of the Smitty kit. I found a lot of these having gaps especially at the rear fender and needing the back pad to kind of fill the gap. I ordered one and had to return it because it had many weld spots burnt through showing on top.

I wasn't going to reply but for the sake of it I will. They fit nicely. Yes there's a gap. Not sure what "back pad" you're talking about but they come with a strip of rubber seal to go between the fender and body in the rear. I didn't use it and looks just fine even lets water drain through. Maybe I can patent that? After having them on for 2 years I don't regret purchasing them, however after seeing at these Starwood motor atrocities I wish I would've gone with the Poison Spyder crusher corners and flares and probably will later on down the line. No burn spots to mention either.
