What are they for?

I have noticed that some you guys have what looks like some black trim beside the rubber bonnet catches.
They look to be about nine inches by two inches, what are they for?

BARRIER---what are rubber bonnet catches? Do u have a pic of the part ur talking about?

Bonnet is another proper term for the hood. But I still don't know what the OP is referring to something that is a 9"x2" piece of trim next to what I believe would be the hood latches :thinking:

Platty, here are my stock bonnet latches, on a stock bonnet. What else would you be referring to?

It was on the tip of my tongue.... I just couldn't think of it.... Like the trunk is a "boot" thanks for clearing that up for me
