Help! What would cause this? No hard wheeling recently? Can the shock be rebuilt?

That sucks! Looks like that used to be a pretty long shock by looking at the body, could that have been caused by not relocating the lower shock mount? As in the shock body hits the frame at full flex and side loads the shaft? Just a thought.

Yea. These shocks were on the jeep when I bought it. I haven't done any hard wheeling in months. I noticed a few days ago that the steering felt a little loose. I did a few laps around the block swerving left to right to try and find the problem and when I pulled back in the garage I noticed it. Think the shock can be rebuilt. I believe it's a Superlift remote reservoir.

ouch a sheared shaft .. my guess is ya did it a while back and just took a bit of time before it managed to shear off the rest of the way and work itself out of the body ...
