Command-Trac - question

I'm a little new to understanding Jeep's 4WD systems. My 2008 JKU Safari has Command-Trac. Here's the question: Does the front differential turn when moving all the time whether in 2WD or 4WD or does it only turn in 4WD?

Not sure about Command-Trac, but the front axle shafts and diff will always be turning with the front wheels. It's just a matter of whether it's connected to the transfer case and/or it has a locker that changes the behavior.
