4 Link VS 3 Link Rear

3 or 4? What's everybody's thoughts?
I currently have a long arm would upgrading to a 3 link rear yield any benefits?
I have EVO King coilover rear.

-Does one lend more to flexing?
-Road Manners?
-Durabilty?
-Would you switch your setup if you could?

I only know the basics, and I know a 3 link can be ugly if it breaks on the trail right? But are there pro's as well? Rock Krawler's big suspension upgrade is a 3 link right? Would you run it?

If you look real close, you can see how much my 4-link setup is limiting the articulation of my EVO Lever with its 14" of vertical travel. Never mind that the limiting strap is taught and is preventing the drive shaft from binding. Clearly, I should be running a 3-link setup because it's so much better.

Are you referring to a regular 4-link or a double triangulated 4-link to get rid of your track bar?

Well that brings up an interesting question. Doing a little research it seems a "double triangulated 4-link to get rid of your track bar" seems to offer a bit more Benicia over a single 3 link.

I'm not sure which is the best route to go and still maintain good road manners and benefits with flex and crawling etc.

Any insights?

 Is your current setup limiting you somehow?

No. my current set up has done great. Flexed great through the Rubicon with Little Rock rub on rockers and skids.

Just looking to see if there is an option to take it to another level. Jeep addiction and learning I guess.

Do you personally weld? Do you have first hand experience with an off-road specialist installer?

If the answer to both of those is no, stick with a standard long arm 4-link.

I do weld but not on my rig. I do have a shop I go to that does great fab work for me in the past.

Go talk to them and get their opinion then. Artec for one makes kits to create a triangulated four link, but I wouldn't want to turn that job over to someone who's never installed one.

Also, hit up John Patrick (rde2rok) who had one built on his 2 door. You can see pics on his build page as well.

Thanks. I asked at one of my local shops, Metalcloak off-road tech.
Here was their response to my questions:

"I currently have a long arm with King coilovers, would upgrading to a rear 3 link rear yield any benefits?

-Does one lend more to flexing? Only if you are currently having binding issues with a 4 link.
-Road Manners? I have seen a lot of feedback going both ways. I personally have not driving this set up so I will not say.
-Durabilty? As you said below it will be really ugly if the single bolt breaks or the truss fails. There is a lot of leverage on that mount and I am not a fan of that setup.
-Would you switch your setup if you could? If you are currently fighting binding issues it might be worth looking at. If you are not you will not gain anything.

I only know the basics, and I know a 3 link can be ugly if it breaks on the trail right? But are there pro's as well? Rock Krawler's big suspension upgrade is a 3 link right? Would you run it?

Or a double triangulated 4-link to get rid of the track bar?

Between the 2 options I would go triangulated and ditch the rear track bar. That is however more involved because you have to address the fuel tank."

It was very helpful and in the end going to stick with my long arm 4 (5) link that is performing well with no binding on my Evo coilover kit.
Thanks everyone that gave useful and helpful advice in understanding the set up.
