No inner fender liners on front

I want to paint the inside of my wheel well black but there is a big piece of foil insulation in there. Mine is a 2014 Billet Silver.
For those running without fender liners up front, what do you do if you've painted the wheel wells? Paint the foil too or remove it?
What purpose does it serve? Heat shield? Road noise dampener?

The photo is not my Jeep. But you can see the foil piece on the right.

I would just paint over it. It keeps the exhaust heat off the firewall. Might help keep your toes a little warmer in the winter if you remove it tho.

It's a heat shield. I would use a high temp paint if you're going to just to make sure it lasts longer. You could also get evo mini liners and paint them as well. My wife went with pink :grayno:

Thanks guys! I guess I'll just leave it there unpainted for now.
I'll probably get used to it and not care soon enough.
If not, maybe I'll cover it up with those EVO Mini Liners.
They look to be about the perfect size to block it out.

I got the EVO mini liners and I like them. It cleans up the wheel well nicely and it's only a 15 minute install. Also doesn't hurt that they're only $60.

Thanks for the photos.
Those mini liners cover up the spots I don't want to see.
...And still work with EVO DTD suspension if I ever run that, like I hope to some day. :2thumbsup:
