WJ 42re leaking tranny fluid from the bellhousing

I've got a 99wj with a 42re. A leak has developed from the bellhousing really bad. Will a plugged cooler cause this? How can I test my cooler for blockage? My brother in/law put the tranny in 2 months ago. And installed a new pump seal. He knows what he's doing but stuff happens. What to do?

About how many miles on it since the trans was put back in? Seems like if he damaged the seal, this would have happened really quickly and you would know about it right away. As far as checking the cooler lines for restriction, use a temperature laser. With vehicle warm, get under there and shine the laser on the hoses and see if you have any extreme drops or rises of temperatures. May want to do this with the AC on to make sure airflow is going across the cooler.

It's very doubtful the cooler is plugged. I would put my money on the seal being bad. Could have easily been damaged during instal or it is just a cheap seal that went bad.
