Red light above temp gauge

I have a 2016 jku and when I went to start it today it didn't turn over then a red light above the temp gauge was flashing. After taking the key out and and trying again it started and went away. Anyone know what this flashing red light is?

I believe you are seeing a security light.

This. It happens if the ECU does not recognize your key.
