Ball joint press for ProSteers?

Which ball joint press have you pros used to press in Dynatrac ProSteers ball joints?
I am ready to do install my ProSteers tomorrow and I loaned a set from Advance auto parts. I looks like the 'c-clamp' part of the press might not be long/big enough to allow for the adapters and balljoint itself to fit in there.
I would hate to take the old ones out just to find out that I won't be able to press the ProSteers in.

I have this set

It looks like it has all the necessary adapters including the angled one. I also bought adapters from Dynatrac.

Please help

I'm no pro by any means but these are what I have, they are Astro Pneumatic. I got the adapters from Dynatrac also IMG_7568.JPG

Edit: it may have just been me being dumb but I found it easier to take out the bottom one first, then take out the top, put the top back in, then put the bottom in

I tried dropping my axle to one side and everything but the screw sticking up on the top ball joint was hitting the coil bucket and I couldn't get it not to for some reason

Thanks bud, I see it now. The set that I have appears to be the same size as yours.
As far as pressing out the lower one first it might be a good way to go. I guess it's for me to figure out what will work better for me.
Teraflex has a decent video on this job, along a thousand other ball joint jobs on YouTube. I've been watching for months.

It should be a fun job....... [emoji23]
I am shooting for 8 hrs hopefully I'll make it.

How long did it take you?

3 weeks! Lol, I only had the red set when I started and couldn't get them pressed out and someone suggested it may be bottoming out in the cup I was using. Sure enough it was so I went to napa and ordered the blue set and then I got them out. Make sure you leave the grease zerk in the lower ball joint too, I didn't and had a whole other set of problems. I don't know if I documented anything very well but I have a thread called my life with brick or something like that

I just looked at your thread. Wow that sucks that it took you so long, but you pulled through and got it done. Great job man.
I also never did ball joints before. I don't know what to expect. I know it won't be easy...
I am planning to start early morning and hopefully be done by the time the sun goes down.

You can do it! The second side goes quick, but it's not rocket science. Just sounded intimidating having not done it before. This forum is great for help and giving people confidence to try things we normally would not

Lower one first.... just poped that motherfucker.

IMG_4187.jpg

My speed sensor broke while I was trying to gently pry it out. Might need a new hub now since the rest is stuck inside. Fucking rust

Good luck. If you do get it out, you can get a brand new Mopar sensor for like 20 bucks on eBay.

Any suggestions on how to get it out?

For the other side I'll just disconnect the connector at frame end and pull the whole wire out. I should have done this here as well

Soak it in PB blaster for a few hours first. Then either grind a slit in it and try to use a screwdriver or drill a hole a little ways into it and use an easy out. Try not to drill all the way through so you don't get debris inside the hub. The broken piece is plastic correct?

Yup, I believe it is plastic. I just sprayed it with pb blaster, I'll keep spraying it while I work on ball joints. Hopefully I'll be able to get it out.
Is it ok if pb blaster gets inside this assembly?

For what you're doing, it should be fine. If a little seeps in, I doubt it will cause an issue. You may be able to use a small punch and try hitting it sideways to start to turn it counter clockwise. Once it starts to turn, I bet you can use a pick or something and pull it out.

Same thing happened to me on both sides. I ended up just getting new hubs, figured I was due for some new ones anyways.
