Diesel swap ?

Im thinking of doing a diesel swap, what do you guys feel about that set up ?
Cummings 4bt turbo ?
Or would it just be better to do a LS swap ?

Easy
Better for an LS
I did a 4bt in my old power wagon
Runs good but shakes like crazy and is noisy and smokes a LOT

Yeah thats what i heard, I saw a video of a guy with a 4bt getting 61 mpg and was shocked lol. But i also heard it will rattle the paint off your jeep haha

From what I've heard it's not a good swap for a heavy jk. Ton of work with no increase in power. I love diesels but I don't think I could handle crawling around with the doors off.

I would do an LS. For selfish reasons, I can't think of anything worse than having to follow a stinkin, smokin, noisy diesel around on a trail all day. :icon_crazy:
If you're doing it for gas mileage why a Jeep in the first place? If you're doing it for power the LS would be perfect. :twocents:

Plus at least for my TJ, my LS swap will increase my mileage and power at the same time so maybe you'll get a good balance.

If you did go with diesel then the best one that would add power and mileage would be an lb7 out of a Chevy duramax.

Yeah i was looking at LS first and saw a 4bt and didn't know how well it worked in a jku.

They aren't bad motors at all, and they run forever, but to really increase power with the weight of a jku your best bets would be the lb7 or even a 6bt if you can find one.
