Loud whining noise at higher rpm

I just picked up a 2014 rubicon a couple weeks ago. I'm noticing a real loud whine noise starting at 3500 rpm. Jeep has 32k miles and a stock air intake. My last 2015 didn't make this noise at all. It almost sounds like a supercharger spooling up only louder. Please let me know if you have any idea what it could be.

I have a 14 too, think it is the transmission. I have never heard the sound in neutral. The intake is weasy though...

Check the idler/tensioner pulley..could be alternator, a/c compressor, power steering pump.

Figure out where the sound is coming from. Rear axle, driveline, engine, roof, window, tires, antenna. Could be any number of things.

I had a whinning sound looked everywhere for it turned out to be the shims on my driver side rear dana 44 came loose and was making contact with the axle fixed it now its gone

It's definitely the engine. All v6 motors whine a little when reaching higher rpm but mine seems to be much louder. Could it just be the style of muffler it has? It has a dynomax right now
