So a couple c clips fell off my roller fairlead. I put it back together using some fencing wire to replace the missing clips. Is there a better alternative to the standard roller fairlead?

Well, you could always run a hawse fairlead but, I personally prefer rollers as they allow for better side pulls. I would think you should be able to find replacement c-clips at your local hardware store specialty hardware drawer section.
If ya need one let me know I have one off a warn power plant that I won't be using.

I think my wire solution will hold better than the clips. Can you use a hawser with steel cable?
Yes, you can but, it'll need to be one made of iron or steel and not aluminum.

Ehh. Ill stick with the roller I think. I've been using it this many years with out incident.
