Caught the Bug
Does anyone know if there’s much of a different in the newer jk hard tops vs the older jk tops? Obviously the rear window is different, but besides that? My dad totaled got in a wreck last week in his jeep (with the top off) and insurance just called and said they’re going to total it but they need the hardtop. So he offered that I could trade him if I want to (his is a 17 mine is an 08) but that means I have to drive two hours to Phx

From what I understand, the newer ones have locating pins, and that is all I know other than the window sizes.

Wait he totaled it with the top off? Why does insurance need it, they don’t have a claim to it as it’s not covered when it’s not on the vehicle. Unless he’s just trying to get a better price on the pay out.

I just sold my '17 hard top to a guy with an '08. As mentioned there are 4 locator pins. There were holes in the tub rail for the front 2 pins but not the rear. Drilled a couple holes and he was good to go.
