Yukon ring and pinion

I bought a new ring and pinion from Yukon and when I opened it, it was used. I’m thinking maybe they did a test with it or.. has anyone ordered from Yukon and got brand new gears never ran?

The gears will be a matched set, meaning the ring and pinion probably will have been run together as part of the manufacturing process. and might appear “used.” What makes you conclude your set is more used than that?

The gears are coated. You should not be able to see any signs of use.

I installed 3 different sets and they do test them to make sure they mesh correctly.

So to answer your question, there might be a small visible pattern.. But you should be perfectly fine. Any questions give them a call. I went with Randy's ring and pinion or Randy's worldwide now and got excellent customer service!

So I called Yukon and they said they “lapped” them at the factory. Usually I get gears from g2 with that coating you were talking about without being “lapped” so this is where my curiosity was. Thanks everyone

I've had no issues with Yukon gears in my F250 and JK.
