JKU Lift Question

Okay, being somewhat new to the Jeep world, I have a basic question that you veterans have likely been asked over and over so I apologize in advance.

We have a 2013 Sahara Unlimited JKU. We are not looking to be hard core rock crawlers, but do enjoy challenging intermediate trails and off road adventures nearly every weekend.

Question: I would like to install a 2.5” Teraflex lift to improve the stance/look and to allow for larger tires in the future and wonder in the meantime if our stock 32” tires (Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A Tires from a Rubicon) will look way too small? Any pictures out there?

From my limited understanding, a 2.5” lift should not compromise any of the stock components. Do you concur with this understanding?

Any help you can give will be much appreciated.

Looks and feels are completely subjective. I had a spacer style “lift” before getting the EVO HD Leveling Kit. The spacer lift was ok for looks and a little more flexing room. The EVO kit gave me an even better stance, better overall ride and was under $250. I ran slightly taller than stock tires at first but am now, comfortably on 35’s as a DD and on the trails.

You can see my particular progression, with photos, in my build thread below.

Any teraflex component you put on your jeep compromises any stock part it's attached to. If the price seems too good to be true with then it's because it always is. Make sure the suspension parts that go on your jeep are American made like EVO. It's piece of mind that's worth the extra money.

I would suggest the Evo HD level kit or the Rancho 2" sport kit. Both will give you the room you need to run larger tires and it shouldn't look funny with your stock size tires.

For the sake of you and your family, I would not recommend Teraflex anything. Not even one of their stickers.

Another vote for the EVO leveling kit here. Cheap, gives room for larger tires but looks good with stock too, and made in USA.

Thank you for the heads up and link to a lot of great comments. They (Terra flex) certainly do market well so it was good to get some opinions from real life end users.

I will look into EVO since it is American made and received such great comments from the forum.

Here's a pic of our 2014 Rubicon, 35" KO2s, Teraflex 2.5" lift.
