BFG KO2 tire question D or E rated

I drive 95% of time on the highway. However, the hardest trail I do is the rubicon and death valley (sharp rocks in places) once every other year. D would probably give me a better ride but I don't want to get a flat so would it be safer to run the E's?

I'd go D personally especially on a two door. The sidewall strength is the same it's only the tread plies that are different. An E rated won't contour to rocks as well.

I put E rated KO2s on my 2 door and it is a very rough ride on the street. The next set I get will be D rated. The worst part is going over bridges on the highway. It feels like your slamming into them when you drive over the joints.

The E sidewall is a stiffer than the D to help the air support a heavier load

I just figured an E rated tire would ride better at 28psi than 35psi

I run my 315/70r17 bfg at ko2 at 40 psi. They pretty well and wear well

I tried running them at 28 psi for awhile and my mpg dropped from 19 to 16. I usually run them at 35 psi.

On rocky trails are you more likely to get a flat tire with D's vs E's?

The E’s are tougher but you can still get a flat with either one
