View Full Version : VIDEO : MOAB - IT STARTS AGAIN / Part 1 - JL Wranglers on Gold Bar Rim & Golden Spike

More than just being the newest model Jeep, the best part about owning a JL Wrangler is the fact that its allowed us to start all over again. We get to install new lift kits, new wheels and tires and all kinds of new accessories but even better than that, we've been able to experience the thrill of wheeling a brand new Jeep, in a place like Moab and like it was our very first time. "MOAB : IT STARTS AGAIN" is a WAYALIFE Epic Trex Adventure that highlights the all new pilgrimage we made out to the promised land in JET Li, our lightly modified Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. Along for the ride were our good friends Tony and Steph who came in their near identical JL Wrangler and Et and Michelle who came in their moderately modified JK Wrangler Unlimited. In this first episode of an ongoing series, you'll get to see us wheeling across the Gold Bar Rim and Golden Spike Trails and take on obstacles such as the Golden Crack, Golden Steps and Slide Rock. We hope you enjoy.

Great Video! Those JLís are so Nice. The 12.5ís look really good on Tonyís. So capable with the few minor mods you guys did on both Jeeps... And cool to watch the JL run side by side with the JK... Really hope to run Moab with you all one day. Amazing scenery. [emoji1360]

Awesome video, Love them all, but now I'm concerned, :) that my JK 2 door, even with the eventual 2.5 lift and 35 tires, would not have made that particular run, on the way back. It looked dicey for the 4 doors, can just imagine my gut somersaulting on the return trip, :)

Not sure where to get the stinger made? would a body shop be able to make it, or would a trailer build place have the material?

Thanks for the great videos

It was a really awesome experience and special treat for Michelle and I. Thank you Eddie and Cindy. The video really does an outstanding job sharing what the JL can do with those that are considering it. And you can never find a better setting than Moab to do it.

I was pretty confident that the JK was a great platform without much room to improve on. But, after seeing what these minimally modified JLs were capable of, Iím convinced the JL is a game changer.

Guess we are going to plan on getting one[emoji106][emoji41]

I tend to be a bit zealous with zip ties. I zip tied the rear locker wire with not enough play when theres a lot of droop. Halfway through trail hit obstacle where droop overdid the play and pulled the wire out of the diff plug. Have e-locker. Lesson learned. [emoji15][emoji849]

At the moment, we're running bumperless like our JK's and really like the look. As far as mufflers go, there aren't too many options available at this time or at least, ones that we like. We'll run it until we find something better.

I am researching them move from my 2000 TJ to the new JL and I find these videos to be educational (since there are features I did not know about) and informational (since you talk enough detail about the products you have and more importantly why you choose them. Since I have 33x12.50 tires, I am curious why one of choose 12.5 and the other did not.

I really enjoyed this video as it brought back some very fond memories. Did this trail in my 2005LJ several years ago and miss the whole Moab thing. What I appreciated about your video is the ability to carry a 37" tire on the stock tail gate without problems. Don't get me wrong, the whole video was interesting but you showed me I can't mount a large tire as a spare without going to great expense. My tire and wheel combo will be about 30 lbs less then yours so I should be good to go. The stinger is something I haven't seen before and I can certainly see its advantage especially in a place like Moab. Thanks for another great video that will help me with the build of my soon arriving JL.

Great vid! Look forward to seeing the brotherly rivalry video between moby and Jet Li one day!

Hope to get a video of this sooner than later :yup:

I think we need to start a petition for Sibling rivalry part 2... Moby and Jet Li running Fordyce. :yup:

LOL!! With any luck, we'll make it happen this summer

Your telling me! Iíve been itching real bad. Soon my friend, soon

Awesome, glad to hear it :)

You'd be fine with either width. We just love the look of 13.50's :)

Glad to hear we could help you out with our video

The wiring was zip tied to something to keep things tidy. This caused the wiring to pull out of the plug at full droop.

Another great video. Thanks for the detailed discussion of what you experienced with the JL.

This helped with my Jeep withdrawal. My JK is in the shop getting its 4th transfer case installed. Only has 49k miles on my 13. New JL is built and is waiting in the rail yard. Ready to swap them.

Thank you. I've actually had people who've been arguing with me about how there was no way we could carry a 37" spare without destroying our tailgate. Problem was, they had no real clue how tailgates get destroyed.

"IT STARTS AGAIN" is a WAYALIFE Epic Trex Adventure that highlights the all new pilgrimage we made out to the promised land in JET Li, our lightly modified Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited.

Excellent video and a really great exercise and test of those new JLURs. Ours is still on order and now I'm a bit concerned about that Factory rear bumper. My wife's JKUR had Poison Spyder Brawlers on and many a gash from dropping down off ledges. You proved the point on film the the factory steel wont cut it. Thankfully (at least on film) it only appears to be paint damage.
Going to do Ouray in August (run Black Bear backwards) again this year and Escalante and Moab next year.
Thanks for doing such a great job on all your video's.
