front axle swap.

Ok this is a novice question but hey I'll ask experts before I do it wrong...When I see videos on axle seals being replaced, they mark the drive shaft and the connection to the pinion. (Sorry don't know the name for the connection where the drive shaft connects to the differential) so it can be put on the same way. I'm guessing it's done for balancing? I'm going to replace the entire front axle with a crate axle and I'm wondering it this applies? Please be merciful it the queston is moronic...

Thanks for constructive help in advance

No mercy, lol.

If you are re-using the axle yoke at the outboard side of the pinion, you should make the mark. If your axle assembly comes with a new pinion yoke (as in someone is building the axle for you with a new yoke), then you don't need to worry about making the mark.
