I just put 35's (315/70/17) KO2's on and have been pondering my next move.

Unlike many I am not going to hard core this thing. I'm not going to seek out crazy trails just to conquer them, but I do want to be set up well enough that if I come a crossed some nastys I'll be able to do it. My goal is to keep this jeep as fun to drive on the road as it is stock. I think it's a blast now so it's important to me especially since my objective is a trip to Alaska with my son.

I dont want to bog down the motor with super heavy trail armor so lightweight but effective is key.

I think my next move is Rocker Panel protection. It has the stock rock rails and they are pretty good for what they are but I want a step, protection from crap coming off the tires and yes big errant rocks, door dings in parking lots along with a possible hit in the garage from my wife's car. :D I know it's a jeep but I'll take trail damage all day long rather then someone not thinking. lol

I like LOD hard core rockers but, well they're hard core and HEAVY vs their other model which isnt as good but reasonably stout. The video below is for a JK but they do have it for the JL. According to what I read it's 100lbs vs 60 pounds. So big difference.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woSitNtzJ3U

Let me know what you think.

After that, I'm not sure of the order but pretty much the normal stuff. Bumpers, skid, moderate lift of some sort. All with weight in mind. I've been looking at some alum bumpers and skids. I know they are expensive but I really dont care if it can achieve my objective.

Kinda confused about what youíre seeking here. You want lightweight and stock feel, then you talk about all the heavy mods you want.

Iím also confused. Rock guards arenít going to protect the doors from some asshole in the Walmart parking lot or your kidís bike striping the side of it in the garage.

If youíre not going to do hardcore off road, then why add all the skid plate armor?

I agree with the others, if you arenít going to do hard core why skid plate everything? You could probably add the Poison Spyder DIY Rico steps that Exodus Jeeps sells and save the weight of heavy armor but get a step out of what you already have. Or consider aluminum parts.

Stock JL skids are pretty crappy. And like I said I will be coming up on some hard core stuff no doubt, I'm just not seeking it out. I'm talking the crazy stuff. Golden Spike, Rubicon and many other trails will be done just not hard core stuff.

I'm not all that worried about price. The alum skid from Artec is 2k and I'm likely going that route.

The signature series rocker or similar appears to be way overkill for me. The lighter model they offer appears more than adequate to drop the weight of the vehicle on a rock judging from the video and WAY better then the stocker which can take a good hit.

IF someone has any experience with them to say otherwise that would be great.

Do you have experience with that rocker? I get what your saying but I'm thinking there are rocker guards out there that will blow away the Signature series rocker too, and likely much heavier. At what point is enough enough?

Weight is a killer for performance on and off road. If wheeling hard core trails where even the most protected vehicles get damaged, yeah you go with the best protection you can get despite the weight since the bennys outweigh the disadvantage of weight. But this isnt what I'm going to be doing.

The Artec alum skid plate is a full belly plate. It's net weight is 10lbs. Their claim is it is stouter then metal. I dont believe it but it for sure it protects better then the stock stuff AND I get 3/4 inch more clearance.

I have seen other full belly'd skids for close to 300 pounds. For what I'm doing there is an easy choice.

If he completely drained all the fluids from his Jeep completely, gas, coolant and all oils from the engine, transfer case and diffs, that would lighten things up significantly. This is incorrect. The Signature slider attaches to the frame, either bolted or welded. The Destroyer attaches to the body. Do some research about what that means for strength. Anyway, if you want the Destroyers, just buy them and enjoy.

I have done the research and the reason I posted it. The only reason I would be wrong is if their website is wrong. I will check again and verify it one more time. If it's to the body I dont want it.

Edit: I checked and I am correct. Bolts to the frame and zero body mounts.

I installed my Steel EVO sliders (welded to the Frame) an inch away from the body.... while resting on a Boulder, the rear end of the slider flexed an 1/8Ē away from the rocker panel. It actually bent the pinch seam a little.... The slider is now permanently 1/2Ē away in that area.. had that been aluminum or a bolt on slider... there would have been damage for sure.

So after all that we come back to the beginning. Pretty much nobody has any experience with those particular sliders. LOD is a reputable company and builds good stuff. The forklift video is not very real world and could be misleading. General consensus is to buy heavy duty sliders especially on a 4 door because they are potentially going to take big hits even on easy little trails like Rubicon. Frame mounted/welded are the strongest. Save weight elsewhere.

I did even more research since no one knows about these things other then LOD is pretty good. but their website could use some editing.

The signature series Rocker is not the 100lbs listed weight on the website nor is the Destroyer 60lbs. That's a 40% weight difference and caught my eye especially with their reputation, and the say what you want about the video, that is still reasonably impressive considering the stock ruby rockers take a good whack but I would never do that test with them. lol.

The real world numbers for the Destroyer is 102lbs (per LOD), the brackets mount to the frame exactly the same as the signature but what's used to get there is stouter then the destroyer. The destroyer has more ground clearance then the signature. Cool. As mentioned the slider material is 10 gauge, that's roughly 9/64's or a little more than 1/8 if my calc's are right, not too too bad. If a big enough hit happens it will likely bend but it should take some punishment.

The real world numbers for the signature series are 132lbs and are considered more for hard core guys.

While I think the destroyer is probably a better choice for me, at 30lbs more which works out to just a 22% difference between the too models, just not enough to go there. IF I go LOD it is a better choice. At 40% difference it's not so clear, but it's not so there ya go.

That's a 40% weight difference and caught my eye especially with their rep and the say what you want about the video that is still reasonable impressive considering the stock ruby rockers take a good whack but I would never do that test with them.

Sent from my iPhone using WAYALIFE mobile app (http://r.tapatalk.com/byo?rid=73415) Yeah I had to answer it myself since no one was familiar with the product. And yes I admit I had fun acting like a juv-e with the juv-ez and I will continue to do so, I think they need it for some odd reason. Or at least I can hope they tire of their nonsense and stop eventually, I can definately outlast them. :D When the adult finally comes out then we're good, that's the hope. Honestly some of that stuff is embarrassing :D Question for you. Why you talking to me about it. I havent come any where near the outrageous comments posted here. Even the so called mod was in on it. I never have seen such a thing. wow.

I differ with you on the solid advice, there was zero on the destroyer. I did get a lot of nonsense. I asked SPECIFICALLY about that rocker, not some hard core rocker. I dont need that.

The poundage in the website was off big time and if they were correct knowing what I know now I would more then likely go with the destroyer vs the hardcore signature series model. But it wasnt right, and likely not going that route since the difference isnt all that much.

Now IF I go signature I seem to recall I can buy it on this website? If so WHY would I support this site when it appears so many are juv-ez and of no help whatsoever? Again even the mod acted like he was 12.

The above comments are for those that it pertains to. The adults on here were very good posters.

I know there are a few sophisticated wheelers out there and a few posts on here also mentioned their interest in keeping a rig light as well. This is for them.

I ended up with the Rock Hard step slider. It has 3 mounting points including 3 on each side body (tub) mounts. I didnt want to go with anything body mounted but my fears have been set aside but reading reviews, watching some wheeling locally. They will be plenty stout for the moderate wheeling I intend on doing and it's alleged they weigh 80lbs, so quite a difference between that and the LOD frame mount model. I do however think the LOD is better so I'm not bagging on it.

I know AZExplorer is wishing me good fortune with NOT breaking the front body mounts. :brows: :thumb:

They will be plenty stout for the moderate wheeling I intend on doing and it's alleged they weigh 80lbs, so quite a difference between that and the LOD frame mount model. I do however think the LOD is better so I'm not bagging on it.

I know AZExplorer is wishing me good fortune with NOT breaking the front body mounts. :brows: :thumb:

14592 views And here comes the internet tough guys.

I am perfectly happy with this site and the ads. I am not mad at any of you. I am just pointing out that hypocrisy of some of the members.

So Mods, having a reviewed of the rules.

This is a copy and past of the rules in part:

"You understand that it is your responsibility to be familiar with and remain updated with current WAYALIFE.com Rules and Guidelines. All users of WAYALIFE.com must comply with these guidelines. Infractions of any Rules or Guideline may result in revocation of forum privileges.

You understand that by becoming a member of WAYALIFE.com, you are agreeing that Nevada law applies to any dispute related to your membership and that any such dispute could only be brought in Carson City County, NV.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. You are also acknowledging that you have read the term and conditions outlined above carefully and agree to abide by them."

So Mods anyone get any infractions from this thread? I am wondering what the baseline for obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening is on this forum? Can a Mod screen shot an example from this thread that may rise to the occasion of one of the prohibited actions. If there are none. I am cool with that also. Just wondering what the base line is? Is pictures of scantly clad females okay? Is language like whore vulgar? Or are we on page #35 and charging forward........

So all the members referring to woman as a whore and slut in this thread....... Just so I understand the standard, can you post your mom's, wife, girlfriend or daughters social media . Sure would like to know if you have the same standards in your household or if you're just being a keyboard warrior from your safe space. So cast that stone in that glass house. I am waiting for some links. I think that none of you that were throwing the words like whore or slut or any of the other vulgar, sexually-orientated and hateful words around will man up and post links from any social media pages. Pretty sure they will fall back on the rules and say they can't post links as it is a violation of the rules and hide behind their keyboards in their safe place even though many social media sites have been referred to in this thread. Maybe some more little kids stuff like I would say it to your face comebacks will work and cover up the bulling, and hispocery of this thread.

So I will check back in a bit and see how we are doing. I look forward to some infractions that have been laid out to the ones on this thread that have violated the rules, or maybe I will be surprised to find out that not one member that has run their mouth on this thread has any females in their life that have posted a pic in social media like the one posted on this thread. That would be awesome. And hey maybe I will see one of you in the future and you can tell me to my face how hurt and displeased you are with me for pointing how stupid this thread is. Yet, they will not apologize or own their behavior. They will continue to post. I don't think their ego will allow them to stop. Which is good right, for business right. I see more ads, you all see more ads and hey that is good for the site. After I click Submit Reply, I am going to click on an ad. I have some shopping to do anyways. Right on brother!

I have been here a short time. I came here thinking that the wayalife guy in the video's had class and I enjoyed watching them. Imagine my surprise when reading what gets posted up and the mods seem to be the worst culprits.

I'm like you I dont get even close to being upset, I have fun no matter what I do and that includes making fun of their silliness. It sure doesnt help matters but it appears there is no hope for them especially with mods doing the same.

It just appears that is the way this site is and now I know.

Hopefully they'll do well and if not, we'll test out something else. I've been scouring the internet, local wheelers, etc on body mounted guards and they are holding up quite well, add better ground clearance and depending on the guards less weight too. win win. EVO Rockstar rear control arm skids
Rancho RS999331 Shocks (front)
Rancho RS999330 Shocks (rear)
Cooper STT Pro 315/70/17
4 inch backspace wheels + spacers

I got 4 inches of lift with this setup on my 2 door Rubicon.

I get some rubbing at full stuff on my front fenders (untrimmed). Overall I'm pretty happy with the ride and performance on and off road.

Now time for cutting. Make sure you have your dimensions and reference lines scribed in the paint. I recommend you actually scribe the lines so they don't get wiped off.

Also level the Jeep. I did this with a 4' level on top of the hood hinges and a 8' level across the top of rear tub, my hard top was removed. I leveled the jeep just releasing or adding air to the tires.

At top of B pillar is bolt on the outside, now on the inside there is a bracket welded. You need to cut between these two spots.

https://i.ibb.co/6ZSccrs/IMG-0911.jpg

Now cut the bottom, I used a 6" cut off wheel on a grinder. NOTE: there is foam in the B pillar, it will BURN. It smokes a lot so you will know if it catches fire. Have a water hose handy and start blasting water through the cut if it catches fire. You will have some smoke, but any excessive smoke that continues is a fire. There is a pipe that runs the full height of the pillar, but its not connected to anything below the cut line. The outside skin is a single sheet metal, the inside is double so you need to cut through both, but you don't need too cut through the pipe. On the inside front corner of your cut will also be a spot weld that welds the outside skin to the two inside skins, cut/drill it out as required. Once you think you have the bottom cut out remove the top inside bolt from the B pillar. Now pull the top of pillar out and lift up, if it doesn't come out see where you still have metal connected at the bottom.

Is your life that boring (in Arizona?) that you continue to waste your time blathering on continuously here? You lost the battle. You're stuck in the infirmary. Other than poking and prodding at everyone you're not accomplishing anything here. The fact that the mods stoop to there little games proves the opposite, I am winning. They cant win verbally so they stoop to their cowards with powers mode. lol

Lets take a trip down memory lane. I opened up a serious inquiry about a certain rocker and asked if anyone had experience....over and over again I got non-sense, along why I shouldnt buy that rocker despite their ignorance on the product. The WORST amongst the instigators were mods. How can that be? :cheesy:

I tell one mod (didnt know he was a mod at the time, I mean how could he be) to buzz away since his postings were silly and unhelpful. Then all hell breaks loose since he is a boyfriend to the other mods. So of course them being boyfriends and all of course I'm the bad guy cause I called him out on his silliness.

That is what this is all about and YOU know it and cant admit it. COWARDLY. :bleh:

Why do a stay here? Because it is so amusing so see grown men act this way. Of course my posts exposed you, made fun of you and didnt help matters but it appears you were all too far gone anyway. Your mod shenanigans prove this even more.

Friends are friends but there comes a time when you have to look yourself in the mirror. But again you know this, instead protected your boyfriends and know I'm right. So yeah, I won.
