Power Steering Pulley Play?

Is the Power Steering pump pulley supposed to have any play?

Mine has 1/16" or more axial movement.

Is it worn? Could that be causing my serpentine belts to shred? I just replaced the original last Friday and drove it 6 miles. The new belt separated with about 1/8" of belt coming off the engine side the next time I started it.

I wouldn’t think there should be any play. I would think that is causing the belt to move and shred.
