To fender chop or not to fender chop

I have a 3.5" rock krawler flex system with 35" toyo open country M/T's. I'm asking your guys opinion, should I chop my stock fenders or do you think the gap will be too big and make the tires look small and roller skate like? Pictures below:

What kind of wheeling do you anticipate doing?
Do you need the extra clearance?
If so, have you made the appropriate mods to accommodate what this lift has to offer? (prop shaft swap, extended brake lines, abs sensor harness routing, rear quarter panel forward edge trim)

i have 3.5 in lift and 35's and at full stuff it still hits the fender (not much but it still does) and i have a cut set sitting in the shop i havent put them on yet for the very reason you havent cut yours... the fender cut isnt a big deal but cutting the liner and support is the poiint of no return for me... i did pull it all apart and held it up and didnt finish.. :idontknow:

I'm not really worried about rubbing. I do have longer brake lines and rerouted the abs lines. Afe Y pipe is waiting for install. I think it's kind of a looks thing for me right now

It doesn't look bad but certainly is a tough decision knowing you can't go back once it's done

You're Jeep looks pretty good and I might leave your fenders as. If you trim them, you'll have a lot of gap between your fenders and tires.

I would not recommend doing a chop with stock bumpers.

On the flip side, I would not recommend stock fenders with stubby bumpers irregardless of wheel size and lift.

Just to help you out

Here's a before and after pic of my 2 door with 35's and a 3.5" lift.

It's not the same size but its the same color so maybe this will help you get a better idea of what your rig will look like if you decide to do this. Good luck, just an FYI, I liked the look, but I don't plan on doing this with my new 4 door.

My plan was to trim the front bumper and turn it into a stubby and trim the rear a little as well. I agree stubby and stock fenders looks goofy

Looks good! Thanks for sharing, why won't you be doing that to your 4 door?

Chopped fenders can look a bit funny with stock or full width bumpers. Although, full fenders with stubby bumpers doesn't look too bad - at least, not to me. :)
