HIGH RPM's on start-up???

Hi, my 2012 3.6 auto, on start-up, runs at 1000 to 1500 rpm for about 2 minutes then goes down to 500 to 600 rpm's.
Is this normal? my tj would fire up at 800 then go to 600 rpm very quickly. Is this common with the 3.6 variable vavle timing engine?

Yup does the same thing in my 2013 jkur... warms up then drops down to low idle... even sounds rough at times :confused:

Both my 2011 jku and my 08 vw GTI do this. Just a warm up and then goes to idle. If you put it in drive/reverse. It will instantly drop to idle.
