2013 3.6L Oil question

I did an oil change at 6400 miles with Mobil 1 5w30. Everything runs great... but at 7k my Oil change required light came on. From reading on this forum I think people were mentioning that it is based off an oil sensor, is it sensor based or millage based? If it is mileage based how do I clear that alarm?

The book says its based on mileage and driving conditions recorded.
