Speaker Issue

Installed brand new Alpine tweeters yesterday, and as soon as I turned on the radio to test them they started popping. I removed and inspected them and don't see anything wrong (tears, etc.). When I put my finger against the cone while the music is playing, the popping seems to go away.

I'm pretty sure I wired them right; anyone have a clue as to what might be wrong? :idontknow:

Are they the right impedence ? are they the right wattage ? , It could be that the center cone is scrapping the magnet but probably not . Why did you replace the old ones ?

x2 did you match the stock specs? no bare wires? you have polarity correct?

I had that problem a while back. My stereo shop added capacitors in between the tweeter and the amp to regulate the power.

It could be too much amp power or not crossed over at the correct frequency. Crossover controls where the signal goes -- lower goes to the mid.

Might want to post your setup on a car stereo forum.
