Any idea on back spacing for rims with 31s

I believe you need about 4.25 on a 8" rim. much less than that and it sticks out too much and bashes fender when compressing.

the NAXJA forum (XJ Specific) probably has the more detailed information that you require. Tire size-Wheel offset with the fender relations answers galore.
My club used to have 8 or 10 XJs, now we are down to one. Most of us moved to LJs
I have always been open top, never had an XJ myself.
