Noob Tire Questions

Here are two admittedly NOOB questions about tires:

1) I am trying to decide between 33 and 35 on my 2-door JKR. Is 34" a good tire? Is there something weird about 34" that nobody wants?
2) My rig is an 08 (I just got it a few months ago) and has 32" Firestone Destination M/Ts on it. What is a good measure to tell when its time to replace them? I have never had M/Ts before and used to use the old penny trick...something tells me that wont work.

Thanks for anybody's help!

If you get a 33 you'll kick yourself. I'd go 35's or the 315/70/17. That's about 34 1/2. Then all you need to do is trim your fenders or go with the flat fender kit. If you have the 410 gears you'll be just fine too. I have the 373 gears with the 34 1/2 and its a little weak on the hwy.

Webe,

Thanks for the response. I think I will go bigger. I like the 34.2 idea with the 315. Any advice on tire wear-out. I am not sure what mileage my current tires have.

You can see quite a difference not only in size but width. I started with metric 34's on my last rig then switched to 35's. As stated before save yourself some regret later and go with 35's.

I'm running the toyo M/T and have about 10K on them with next to no wear. I'm thinking I should get atleast 50K out of them. Kind of depends on how much spinning I do on the rocks. lol. For the best wear is about tire pressure & rotations. I tend to run about 38 psi hwy and 13-15 off road. 315/70/17s

38psi? Is that a typo or do you really run them that high? Myself and most others only run around 28psi.
