CB Mount

So I recently bought a Cobra 29 for my JK and I have been reading a lot of the different threads on mounting positions for it. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with the passenger side if the shift console. I was looking on quad rated an found this.

Wondering if anyone has experience with this an if the Cobra will fit it. Looks like I may go with this mount.

I run this mount with a Uniden 520 which is 4-1/2" W x 6-3/4" D x 1-3/8" H. My friends that ride with me say they notice it there. If the Jeep rocks a bit, their leg will hit it.
I wouldn't run a larger CB with this mount if you always have a passenger. I've already started thinking about moving mine, since I tend to have a copilot most the time.

I mounted my 520xl on the footman loop above the rear view mirror. A guy with a cobra 29 did it the same way. There is a picture on this link. http://www.jk-forum.com/jk-write-ups-39/remove-sub-box-ground-run-antenna-coax-2dr-2012-a-231369/ I really like it up there and out of the way. If you drop the mic it dangles right in a good spot to grab, but out of the way. Plus most CBs have the speaker on the bottom that makes mounting high a good idea.

If you mount it on the side of your seat that might mess with sliding the seat forward. It would be a big issue with a 2dr. It might not be that big of a deal with a 4dr.

Just got this in the mail the other day.

It will hold my cobra 29 a little better then what I have now.

Hopefully I can install it this week.

Mounted mine on the glove box and haven't had any complaints from passengers. They actually like it cuz they can play with the PA when I'm driving around town haha and it's still close enough to adjust whatever I need :thumb:

For those of you who mounted above the rear view mirror, does the cb ever get in the way or you ever get stuff hung up on it? I'm just trying to find the most out of the way practical place to put this. I'm starting to like the idea of it being up top

Mine never has. And if you have a small enough CB you can make a mount for a couple bucks. It worked great on my smaller midland but its not strong enough for the bigger cobra 29 that I have.

I didn't like having my CB overhead. I couldn't mount it far enough back with the SPod so I found a spot in the glove box.

Some may call it Ghetto, but I call it using up some of the spare stuff in the garage. Here's my setup before paint. Leg room is limited as it is, so up high she goes.
