I know I dont but my overall weight is not even 1500 lbs of I was pulling 2800 an up I would indeed want to keep it balanced a bit better between the two .. when I used to run horses around we had em on every single trailer that was a bumper pull ..balanced it out and made for a nicer ride overall ..

The things I didn't say is half an hour later on the road, a rock hit it, and yesterday the bike I wanted to put in it hit a tailgate instead, that's 3 hours after we knew by the doctor that the chimo for my wife cancer didn't do it's job.... Sad forking day

Thanks, and yes only wife matter , hopefully she'll have another kind of chimio starting next week. We where relying on that camping/traveling think to soften the effect of the disease.

Praying for you, been through that battle with cancer with my daughter... 8 years cancer free now. Praying they can get a good plan in place. Bummer on the other stuff too...:grayno:

The homemade camper....

I have a home made camper... cost me 1300 to build. It has 17 gallons of water, a battery and inverter. A roof top tent. A cargo basket on top that holds about 100lbs of chairs or hunting gear. Inside it has the space for 4 -55 gallon coolers or a cooler and cargo boxes... It has a two burner stove. Jacks so it can be left freestanding... and a couple of easy pull out drawers I made. It also has a whole assortment of saw, hatchet, Axe, fishing pole holders, 10 gallons of gas, a shovel, a tool box filled with fluids and camping equipment. A spare tire... 3 Jeep rims... and a lot of ground clearance, and a paint job so ugly... you can't always tell if it is dirty.

Been using for several years... it has been to Moab twice, Colorado, Wyoming, and all over Montana.

I have found out that it doesn't do well empty. With weight in it it does great on the highway... empty in a strong wind and with the right bump... it has gone shaking on me a couple times recently... So I'm thinking on getting longer springs and mounting a set of shocks on it.

Well the only thing I see here of any concern is the issue with the wife ... after all rocks will happen , accidents with the bike can be corrected ...

Hope they get things with the wife all fixed up and I will agree the travelling about will aid in keeping thoughts elsewhere ..

Heard mixed reviews on em would like to hear a update when ya had It for a bit an a few trips down the road .. likes /dislikes. .... still leaning strongly towards a tab outback if I swap from the military one I have currently

Will do. First trip was a success. We had pretty strict requirements that gave us few options. Wanted to keep GVWR under the 3500 lbs, but needed to keep the ability to sleep 3 as we have a 7 month old. As such we went with a 171. I know some people are willing to get the heavier R-Pods or similar and they just watch what they carry, but we are military and move often. Wanted the flexibility to carry a load and make it through the mountains safely.

Picked this up a couple of months ago and haven’t had time to work on it, going with an enclosed cover, some sliding trays on the inside and a frame for a RTT and awning.

Nice plan .. The one I picked up ended up being a m101a from the 60's …..tossed some 2x4sides on it and a canvas tarp .. Did a little inside but nothing major just enough to live out of it a week or two …now I'm thinking a rtt and a water tank may be a good idea
