This past week was a long one. Went from Virginia to California. Tomorrow heading to the Jeep Jamboree USA to run the Rubicon Trail. This will be my first time on it and by far the hardest trail I'll have done. Figured doing it with the Jamboree would be a good way to go. Couple pics from the trip cross country.

Great pics, looks like a good trip...

Sadly, this week my Jeep has only taken me to work... Gotta do something about that this weekend!

None of the pictures turned out ... but I took the roof off and headed out into the desert to watch meteors with my 5 year old son. I had to go out about thirty miles south of were I live, which is already 20 miles from the strip. You can still see the glow, but we could see the milky way and lots of impressive shooting stars. You should all go out tomorrow as that will be the peak.

Great story:
I get my daughter summers and holidays. I live in southern CA and she lives in central WI.
My daughter turned 16 and told me she wanted a jeep. I said OK.. get a job and I'll match whatever you make. Over spring break this year she showed up with $2500 so I started looking. Now, Dad has a few rules for daughters jeep. 1. air bags 2. fuel injection 3. no 4 cylinders. Unfortunately that means a TJ with a 4.0 and in socal they cost a lot. I eventually found a salvaged TJ that didnt run and at the beginning of the summer she went with me and towed it home. I pulled the rear of the jeep out with my winch, and she helped me put a fuel pump in it. We replaced the tailgate, gas tank skid, a few connectors some kid chopped under the hood, installed a radio, changed the diff fluids, plugs, cap, rotor, seats and got it running pretty well. Last week was the end of the summer so we hopped in and drove it to WI stopping in St George, UT, Moab, Vail, and Des Moines. we lost a starter in western WI and she replaced a tie rod end yesterday.
Her jeep has a 4" lift and new cooper 33's. I'm sure everyone thinks she's all spoiled, but I think she earned it...and the jeep is a 5 speed.
BTW, I'm sure I'm way more than half way into her jeep, but I couldnt care less!

That's an awesome story. She'll remember that summer for the rest of her life.

Came up on a wild burro while heading up to Angel's Peak near Mt. Charleston, NV. The recent rain in southern NV made this trail much more interesting ...

There's a trail below Angels Peak (closer to the 95) called Grapevine aka Lucky Strike. Back there are a couple natural springs where all the burros hang out. I saw roughly 50 of them the last time I did it which was maybe a week before that wildfire was last month.

I'll have to hit that with the wife sometime. She loves seeing burros. You probably already know this, but there are two trails up to Angel's Peak. One heads from Kyle Canyon Road and goes north up to Angel's Peak, while the other comes in from US 95 on the east side of Angel's Peak. I think the Lucky Strike trail you are talking about goes between the eastern approach to Angel's Peak and heads over to Kyle Canyon Road. It's one that I have had on my to-do list for some time, I'll definitely bring the Mrs. if there's a better than average chance at seeing some wildlife. :thumb:
