Holy smokes i had that same TV. I also remember the Pioneer plazmas were like 10k.

We bought our first HDTV (a Mitsubishi 65" DLP 720P rear projection model) in the year 2000 for about $16k.

It was 2002 for me. A 65" Sony rear projection HDTV (1080) that was enormous and weighed a ton. At the time, it cost just shy of $5000.
