RETIREMENT ROAD TOUR #1

We are in Helena, MT.

Years ago (1980’s) I used to come here with my military unit to do mountain and winter warfare training. We would base out of Fort Harrison and travel up to the Bitterroot Valley and climb near Hamilton. We would spend a month in the winter and a month in the summer. We would always static-line parachute in and someone would always get injured because of the winds and the thin air. Old time static line parachutes used porous cloth and you fell fast. Luckily there is a VA hospital directly next to the Drop Zone. 😳

The First Special Services was a joint US and Canadian unit that fought in WW2.

We had a reunion with a bunch of the original members of the unit, it was really cool hearing their war stories.

Catching up here.

Did they remember you?

Still no report on how cold the Pliny is in the new fridge .

So I had a bit of a Pliny emergency when I arrived in Reno. My usual go to is having a distributer problem. So it turns out that South Lake Tahoe Whole Foods has it. So of course we made the drive because I never get tired of beautiful Lake Tahoe or the taste of Pliny The Elder Beer.

I never get tired of seeing this!

Let’s do some beer math. Two bottles for two days equals 18 beers. 🧐

Before you claim I took it all- I left 2 for seed.

For those interested my new Dometic fridge holds 19 Plinys.
