Since we're moving I'm trying to purge the garage before we leave. After my mom passed I hastily cleaned out out her place. Needless to say I've just been moving around boxes of crap I dont know what to do with. One of the last boxes I packed I threw this issue of scientific American in. It was my dad's from 1984. He was the biggest hoarder of books, magazines, and even newspapers. Well I flipped it open tonight and saw this ad. Thought I'd share before I toss it.

Yeah no kidding. Ignorance was bliss.
I have a laptop computer which is even older. It still worked a couple of years ago when I last turned it on. It also stored all of the user data in battery-backed RAM. While it does not use MS-DOS, Bill Gates wrote much of the software inside. It came with the BASIC language from Microsoft.
