In preparation for the Texas Hidden Falls trip, my family and I did a "test run" camping last night with our new gear. We needed a tent to accommodate all 6 of us, one sleeping bag, a camp stove and I tried some battery operated fans. The fans did nothing for us since it was still 100 degrees at sundown, but we really like all the other new gear. Everyone was hot, but for our first time out I think it went well. My kids have never really camped and neither has my wife believe it or not. Anyway, they did great! This will help us enjoy the outdoors more and the Jeep of course!

Oh, and I have a bunch of EVO boxes sitting in the garage! I hope to make a little progress, at least, tomorrow on some of the new Jeep goodies.

The project and installer are both done!

...and removed the air dam/splash guard thing from the front bumper. Looks so much better and now I won't rub on it off road/disconnected.

My 16mm gear wrench is delayed in shipping, so even if it was cooler out I couldn't finish the skids. Still have the leveling kit, LCA skids, c-gussets and rear d-rings to get to as well. I'm working on making plans for my DIY front bumper. I'm not sure if I'll get to that before the Hidden Falls trip though.

Call me what you will, but that's the reason I can't make progress on work days. I'm off Fri/Sat this week and plan to get up at 0600 to knock some more mods out.

I know that sucks! I'm down in South Texas now and I'm glad that when I have time to relax in on the beach of SoCal.

The family and I are going camping at McKinney Falls State Park in a week and a half. I can only hope it's cooler in Austin than down here! You got me beat with 114 and I'm sure it's way more humid down there!

Nice work!

I'm itching to get started. I have a three year old grandson who's begging me to take him around in the red jeep all the time. The most he's gotten to do it pretend to drive it while it's parked in front of my house after I come home from work.

I'm also planning on taking him camping by next year.

Love the jeep build. Finally saw that third row seat set up. Very cool. Rear facing for quick tailgate exit may be cool to try out too. Love the third row seat rh roll cage too. I got their bolt in roll cage and I am very pleased with it. Easy install and looks good and makes dropping the windshield easier. Great build!

Thanks! I do want to try the seat rear facing. My middle two kids primarily sit back there and are prone to motion sickness. So, I'm worried about that and getting cold air back to them too.

I plan on adding the RH cage eventually too!

I'm hoping it's not 110 when I get home tonight. :fingerscrossed: I'd really like to get the skids done so I can work on the leveling kit, c-gussets and LCA skids this Friday...

So, it was only 107 when I got home tonight. I stuffed a window AC unit in the garage window and setup a couple box fans. That made it bearable. I really needed to make a bigger dent in this pile...

...but I only got this one thing added...

ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1438222606.685581.jpg

...which is the Protek Auto Trans Skid!

It took two hours including setup, reading & re-reading the write-up, beer/stand-in-front-of-the-AC breaks, installation and clean up. Wow! That drivers side Trans mount nut really sucked to get off of there! I actually contemplated pulling the front driveshaft. In the end I got it installed and got a pretty decent upper body workout too.

Tomorrow is my Friday. I plan to tackle the last skid then. Friday morning I'll be working on the leveling kit, c-gussets and LCA skids. Maybe more than I can do in the heat. I can't weld in the garage due to it being a rental and too many combustibles around. All the welding will have to take place in the driveway.
