Headed to Evans Creek this Monday to do some trail riding and had a pretty good time. The area has some of the smaller trails as in narrow here in the PNW. I would say that a JKU with full width axles and 40s is a little much. I found myself in many compromising positions which resulted in body...

So I was hitting my front bumps harder than I wanted so I decided to got with some Sumo Springs instead of full on air/hydraulic bumps. All four cost me around $270. So far I’m pleased with the performance and the bumps are much smoother. Sent from my iPhone using WAYALIFE mobile app

We camped at Elbe and woke up early to meet up with another group to run the Naches Trail. It was another muddy day but great none the less. A much needed soak. Sent from my iPhone using WAYALIFE mobile app

Finally got out on another trip. I don’t mind doing old trails because I have a completely new set up now. First day we hit up Elbe Hills and I finally did the Busy Wild Trail. Difficult trail but fun. With 40s I never got stuck but the other JKU on 38s got high centered a time or two...

Wasn’t satisfied with the way the front was flexing. It seemed really stiff. Didn’t see anything binding so I determined it was the Antirock. Since the swap, I had to put an Antirock in the rear. Now the rear was more flexible than the front. I decided to swap back in the Rubicon sway bar with...

First day on the rocks. Jeep did really well. My tire touches the rear pinch seam at full bump. Just barely so that will be an easy fix. I feel like the front should flex more but I can’t see anything binding. More testing I guess. Sent from my iPhone using WAYALIFE mobile app

    Low Budget Willys Crawler

To finish up this thread I sold the Willys a couple months ago when I decided to do my 1 ton swap. I couldn’t afford to spend money on two Jeeps. The guy who bought it wanted to build a mud truck for his new wife as a wedding present. He kept me updated as he continued to build it. He said his...

Also I wanted to carry the spare but I wasn’t willing to put the money down for an EVO carrier just yet so I came up with a quick easy solution. Sent from my iPhone using WAYALIFE mobile app

Here’s some pictures from last weekend. First off-road trip with the new setup. Wasn’t difficult but it was a nice little test run. Kaner Flats and Ravens Roost here in WA. Sent from my iPhone using WAYALIFE mobile app

Another potential upgrade needed for the 1 ton swap is a brake booster/master cylinder upgrade. The 3.8 is a little on the small side which results in a soft pedal. The brakes work very well but the pedal is soft. Apparently the 3.6 MC is big enough and no upgrade is needed. Options to upgrade...

At this point the Jeep is road worthy. Here’s a few pictures from the first trip. Jeep drove really well. Jeep is still a slug but does really well in town. 2000 RPMs at 65 mph. Jeep also tracks straight down the road and doesn’t wander. I guess my garage alignment was decent enough. On the...

So another modification that needs to be done with the TJ tank is that the rear sway bar must go away. Some leave it out but the other option is an Antirock. But even that’s not straight forward. The Antirock bolts up the holes for the rear bumper but in that position the bar with make contact...

I quickly threw a patch panel together. Easily removable and strong enough to support the spare tire. The nice thing about having the TJ tank is that I can easily do a triangulated 4 link in the future and make a flat belly skid plate. We will see what kind of damage it gets once I start...

I’ll make a beefier skid plate later. The TJ tank is deeper than the JK tank so the fuel pump needs to be extended. I did this with the GenRight kit. The gas gauge is a little off but it’s doable. The rest of the lines are easy to adapt and hook up. Autozone has everything I needed to hook...

I didn’t want the fuel cell because I needed the space. The GenRight tank costs like $2200 or something like that so I went with the TJ tank option. I did some research and if you use the 2005-2006 tank then you can hook up all the emissions and have no CEL. Also it’s a 19 gal tank and you use...
