Random Internet Shit you've come across

No shit, Sherlock. That’s what I’m responding to. Just to make sure you get it, The Lion King is a movie romanticizing leaders who eat their adoring subjects. I find that ironic.

    Voyage of The Black Gypsy

My son just bought a 2018 JLUR and wants to go to Moab Labor Day Weekend. Looks like I’ve got a deadline to get Gypsy back on her wheels. The plan is to -Truss front & rear axles & powder coat -Install new 4.88s in the rear -High steer knuckles -Install a PSC hydraulic assist ram -Tougher diff...

In The Shop - Disciple Off Road

Give your daughter our congratulations! That's a fine looking pup. How old is he and what breed. He looks high speed/low drag Is the cage a good one and worth all the trouble?

    Voyage of The Black Gypsy

I don’t need no steenkeeng brakes. I use engine compression and gears to retard unwanted forward motion. It’s what men of iron will and grit do

    1977 Cherokee Chief Project Begins...

Awesome project. Even better that it was your father’s. I love the two door wide track Cherokees, especially with the 401. They’re beasts and will go anywhere! I wish I never got rid of mine.

    Voyage of The Black Gypsy

Stripped down the rear carrier to get it ready for 4.88 gears. The bearing puller kit made removing the bearings a breeze!

Tools I Wish I’d Known About Before

Bought a carrier & pinion bearing puller off Amazon. Along with the Milwaukee impact gun, pulling the bearings off the diff was a snap!

    Steeper descents dangerous behavior

Point to you. As an aircraft technician, I have to try and interpret squawks written by pilots who have no idea how to structure a sentence or spell and figure out why they grounded the airplane. To save time, I get to the meat of the matter and ignore the rest. In this case it’s “Engine RPMs...

    Steeper descents dangerous behavior

Ha! No, I’ve never had the brakes on my JK fail from heat. I learned to not ride the brakes on long descents to prevent them from getting that hot. Point to you. That’s not to say using engine compression & gearing doesn’t have other benefits, such as greater control in certain situations.

    Steeper descents dangerous behavior

All right- what makes it retarded?

    Steeper descents dangerous behavior

Because it never happens to you, it never happens. Something in this thread is retarded and it ain’t compression braking.

    Steeper descents dangerous behavior

When off-road, I select a gear that lets me descend without relying on the brakes, whether the rig has an automatic or a manual. Brakes are used sparingly to prevent over-speeding, ease the rig over drop offs and prevent overheating the brakes on long descents. Under most circumstances...
