I replaced the turn signal switch on my CJ-5 several times. They seemed to be made from really weak plastic, and I must have bumped the turn signal lever on the way in or out of the vehicle.

If they are moving loads, they could strategically have pre-charged trucks (or battery packs) and swap to fresh (maybe even the driver) within the driving range. 400 miles is pretty far and it is worth a good rest break to recharge.
