Short vs mid arm lifts?

Is there any difference in a short arm vs mid arm lift kit or is mid arm just a marketing term and includes adjustable control arms? The "mid arm" kits I've seen don't replace the factory control arm mounts so therefore can't really be different from a regular short arm lift right?
