Never rotated till now + drivetrain?

I see folks selling "4 50% tires and one NEVAAR touched the ground!" all the time.

How bad for your drivetrain is adding that 100% tire to rotation at that point?

(I'm a diligent rearward-cross guy, just thinking about buying some used tires)

Limited slip makes it possible. Ideal no. Works? Yes! All them locker fans....ouch!

The different tire size on one side vs the other is essentially like being in a slow continuous curve when driving straight, (to the differential anyway), this puts more stress on the center (spider gears) of the diff. It will cause higher oil temps so if you are running this way you will want to change the oil more frequently.

A selectable locker is an open differential when not locked. As long as you are only locking on terrain that really warrants it, It is actually better suited to handle this than a limited slip.

All this said, if the rig is a daily driver or spends a lot of time on the highway I wouldn't do it. If it sees mostly town and trail driving I wouldn't hesitate.

About us
“wayoflife” is a moniker that I’ve been using for 20 years now and I chose it because I think it does a great job of explaining, in simple terms, the passion I have for Jeeps and the Jeep way of life. This is a lifestyle that transcends age, gender and race as the only thing you need to be a part of it is a love for the outdoors, a desire to explore, a yearning to take on a challenge and a will to conquer it. Over the years, Cindy and I have attempted to capture the essence of this lifestyle through photographs and videos and share it with others around the world. And, this is how WAYALIFE was born.
